Lots of Love

This weekend was eventful, but it was eventful around the house! We have decided that we need to finally liven the 'new' house up and do those finishing touches that we seemed to put on the backburner for the past 15 months.  So, we headed over to Sherwin Williams…uh oh! We painted our bedroom Friday night; Grassland is the color and it looks beautiful (in my humble opinion). I don’t know why our bedroom was the last room in the house that we decided to decorate but ah, finally – a styled, complete bedroom that we love to be in! I cannot wait to buy the finishing touches for it. I’m thinking a chair, some throw pillows, linen curtains, and a few photos/pieces of art for the walls. We splurged and got new bedding last weekend from Pottery Barn that has yet to make it on to the bed, being that it is made of linen...and we have two pets...furry pets...who love to sleep with us. Hmm.

Better and more pics to come soon!

My sister and her boyfriend came over on Saturday to help us with phase 2 of our painting project -- the kitchen (Nomadic Desert) and living room (Kilim Beige). Lindsey and James made painting so much fun! They don’t take life too seriously and are always laughing at each other. It was a blast! We got a lot accomplished and really appreciate their help.

That night, we went to a wedding in Conroe. Friends of mine from high school got married in one of the best weddings I have ever been to. It is easy to focus on the glitz and glam when you plan a wedding but Kim and Brent planned their event perfectly. The things that needed to be extravagant were, and the things that didn’t need to be, weren’t. It was so ‘them’ and you could tell that the whole event was focused on love and sharing in that love. I think that is exactly what it is supposed to be like and it was really refreshing.  We had an absolute BLAST though, eating good BBQ, drinking delicious margaritas, and dancing the night away with (my) old friends.

Sunday was consumed with painting and touch-ups, a bit of yard work, a visit with our neighbors newest friends, and complete exhaustion. But, the house is painted and we love it! Troy is actually working on a special project to go with all of our 'livening up.' We bought a used buffet/entry way piece last week to go in the nook by the front door/stairway. It is really pretty and will be gorgeous once Troy finishes stripping, sanding, and staining that beast. I have been waiting for an entry piece for over a year and am so excited to finally have one. Now the house will really feel warm and decorated, instead of new-house sterile and empty! I will be sure to post pics of the before and after as soon as he is done.

Yay for sweet husbands who don't mind doing manual labor to make you happy!

It's another busy week in the Davis household - hosting dinner with the Johnstons and my sis and James tonight, completing a huge cookie order (pirate-themed!), and invitations galore to work on. We head to DFW for Cliff and Rachel's couples' shower this weekend and we are really excited about seeing everyone. Good times :)

Have a great week, everyone!

Troy's Trip to Germany and Spain

So i figured that I would give this "blogging" thing a chance...Also it would not be fair for me to make Chels compose a blog about a businees trip that I took to Trostberg, Germany and Barcelona and Tarragona, Spain. So since I am such a nice husband...I will save her the pain of asking me about about the details and then typing about them, to just typing about them myself. Hear it goes...

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

It has been a quiet 24+ hours at the Davis house...

There has been a bit of moping around...

A few glares here and there...

And attempts at having some fun...

Usually fall short...

We catch each other sitting...

Waiting...

Wishing 'dad' would come home.

Ya, we are having a first class pitty party here at Casa de Davis. Troy left yesterday morning for his work trip to Germany and then on to Spain, and us girls miss him somethin fierce! I know he is going to have a great time (especially since Espana is now the futbol WORLD champions!), and the trip will probably go by very fast for him...but time feels like it has stopped over at our house...and Friday can't get here soon enough.

Tess keeps checking the back door, waking up with a jolt every time she hears a noise, and sits patiently with her tennis ball, waiting for dad to throw it for her.

Lucy seems to be taking it pretty bad too, which is odd. She has camped out by the back door, lays in Troy's sink, and sleeps on his pillow.

And me? Well I am just a royal mess myself :) I miss that guy a whole bunch and forget how comfortable I get in his presence.

We I have scheduled a few things to help us through the week (dinner with the Johnstons, happy hr with some friends, and some quality movie-watching sessions) but I don't think we will be ourselves until the man of the house is safely home. But hell, it's our pitty party and we'll mope  be grumpy  sulk  feel sorry for ourselves  cry if we want to!

Fantastic Fourth

We went down to Port Aransas for the Fourth of July and it was arguably the best trip yet. We got to see everyone, relax, eat good food, celebrate a little, and watch some great fireworks. It was all in all a great and uneventful weekend... except for our last night there. We got quite an exciting show! A swarm of teenagers/twenty-somethings literally jumped the walls of the property as about half of the residents/families were watching fireworks from their balconies. Cases of beer in hand, many of those idiots were really rude, thus prompting some of the owners to call the cops. We were being oober nosey and decided to check out the action once the cops arrived :) Overall, the police issued over 20 MIPs! It ended up being quite a show and I think it is safe to say that those kids made our night -- especially the ones who had to be picked up by their parents! What's sad is that made us feel old...very OLD.

Here are some pics from the fun weekend:
